Surströmming recepie

​This is the most traditional way of eating surstromming, on a flat bread.
Surstromming on Flat Bread
Ingredients
  • Flat bread
  • Butter
  • ​Surstromming
  • Freshly boiled and sliced almond potato
  • Chopped onion (yellow or red)
  • Tomato
  • Fresh dill

Instructions
  1. Butter the bread with room tempererad butter
  2. Slice the varm potatoes and put it on the bread, melting the butter
  3. Cut small pieces of the filleted herring and sprinkle it on top of the potatoes
  4. Top the bread with onion, tomatoes and fresh dill
  5. Some like to add some sour creme or Västerbotten cheese

The sweetness of the boiled potato and onion offsets a sharp and intense taste of the surströmming perfectly!

Much easier to eat, especially with a beer in the other hand.
